- South plays the club 9 and wins the dummy's King.
- The K of spades is played and South discards the Ace of clubs.
- If East holds up, North continues spades.
- If East wins and returns a spade, North draws trumps and plays a club.
- Then: (a) If East does not take,
- South keeps A, Q of hearts and West must keep K, J of hearts so only one diamond.
- North plays the diamond to force West to return a heart.
- (b) If east wins the club and returns a club, he will automatically squeeze West.
