Solution

  • This problem, considered one of the most difficult ever set, appeared almost fifty years ago in an American publication. To our knowlege no solution has ever been published. "More than 20 000 Solutions [were] submitted and only ONE of these (from Davis-Cohen of Portland, Oregon, U.S.A.) was 100% correct."
